There are 3 broad groups of tutors, which are segmented according to the market rates charged by the tutor:
1. Undergraduates/Part-Time – These tutors tutor part time and have not attained a degree or diploma yet. These tutors often charge the least, but may have fewer available time slots and may not be able to commit for extended periods of time.
2. Graduates/Full Time Tutors – These Tutors have graduated and are providing tuition full time as their occupation, either as private tutors or at other learning centres. They have more years of experience in teaching, more in-tuned with student’s learning style because of their experience, but their rates and qualifications of each full-time tutor may differ greatly from tutor to tutor. Relief teachers in schools or teachers teaching in private schools who are not NIE/MOE trained fall into this category.
3. MOE-Trained/Current School Teachers – These are tutors who have been trained in NIE/MOE/TTC and are very familiar with the current school syllabus. They are still teaching OR have taught in MOE or international schools. They will tend to command higher rates but have the most amount of resources and are familiar with the latest syllabus, pedagogy and marking schemes by SEAB.
Please note that we do not control the rates for each tutor. Each tutor states their own rates based on their own qualifications, experience and the accessibility of the tutoring location. We will however endeavour to send you the best fit according to your tutor request and budget.
